I signed up for the service as I was looking for a phone number. I used the "feature" of signing up for $1 (of course it required a credit card), yet it said I need to cancel within 5 days or I will be charged 29.95 per month thereafter.

Well, surprise surprise. No email with login information so I can't even use the service. (Yes, I checked for spam). Can't log in to cancel and when I filled out an email on their website, it said it may take 5-7 days to get back to me.

Um... 5-7 days? Most likely if you're at this site, you have already been duped. Just wish I had seen all the negative emails before.

Any ideas how to solve this? Contact my CC company?

Yet, even the $1 has not come through yet, so they must be waiting 5 days to process it. Perhaps the only way would be to shut the card off now.
